'Emigración, integración e cultura. 250 anos de presenza galega en Bos Aires' will be the subject of his intervention


At the invitation of ILLA, the historian will address the different dimensions of Galician presence in the Argentine capital.

Ruy Farías holds PhD in History from the University of Santiago de Compostela. He works as a researcher and teacher at CONICET (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas) and the (Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas).

He specializes in Galician inmigration and exile in Argentina and in Francoist repression in Galicia during and after the Civil War. Within the scope of CONICET, he researches Spanish migrations to Argentina during the post-World War II period.

His académic curriculum includes the books Novos olhares sobre a imigração ibérica em América Latina (ss. XIX-XX) (2013), co-edited with Érica Sarmiento, y Bos Aires galega (2010).

Currently, Ruy Farías is part of the research project team 'Recuperación do patrimonio teatral da Galiza 4. Emigración, exilio e resistencia interior', funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and developed within the scope of ILLA.
