Iván Méndez López

Iván Méndez López holds a degree in Galician Philology from the University of A Coruña (2002), with which he won the Extraordinary End of Degree Award from both the UDC and the Xunta de Galicia. In 2004, he obtained a Diploma in Advanced Studies in Galician and Portuguese from the University of A Coruña. Currently a secondary school teacher, he dedicated himself professionally to the field of communication, was a standardization technician in different municipalities of the country and a toponymy technician at the Real Academia Galega.
As a researcher, in 2019 he published the study "Pola rúa da Amargura: o declive da toponimia tradicional no nomenclátor urbano da Coruña" (the decline of traditional toponymy in the urban nomenclature of A Coruña) in Estudos de Onomástica Galega IV. Os nomes das rúas (Real Academia Galega); also in 2019, he participated in the Heritage and Memory Days organized by the AS-PG and the Cultural Association Alexandre Bóveda with the communication "Recuperarmos a memoria da Coruña a través da toponimia" ("Recovering the memory of A Coruña through toponymy"). He is currently working on his thesis Elementos para o estudo da toponimia histórica do Concello da Coruña (Elements for the study of the historical toponymy of the City Council of A Coruña).
