Laura Tato becomes a full Professor in the area of Galician and Portuguese Philology

Laura Tato Fontaíña, an Associate Professor at the University of A Coruña and a member of ILLA, has passed the tests to access a university Chair today.


Professor Laura Tato has been developing her teaching and research work at the University of A Coruña, mainly in the Faculties of Philology (A Coruña Campus) and Humanities (Ferrol Campus).

Laura Tato is an internationally recognized specialist in the history of Galician theater, an academic field in which she has published decisive contributions such as Historia do teatro galego. Das orixes a 1936 (1999) and "O teatro desde 1936" (2000), in addition to directing several research projects with ministerial funding. Prof. Tato has also developed relevant research work in the field of medieval Galician-Portuguese lyric poetry, with publications such as O cancioneiro de Pero Meendiz da Fonseca (2007).

Among the distinctions achieved by Laura Tato are the Extraordinary Doctoral Award, the Carvalho Calero Linguistic and Literary Research Award and the Vicente Risco Social Sciences Award.
