Ánxela Lema París

Ánxela Lema París holds a degree in Galician and Portuguese: Linguistic and Literary Studies (2013) from the University of A Coruña. In 2020, she earned her PhD in Literary and Gender Studies, with international distinction and cum laude, with the dissertation titled Deconstruír o erotismo poético desde as non-monogamias. Estudo e relectura da poesía erótica galega e da súa recepción crítica na primeira década do século XXI, supervised by Carme Fernández Pérez-Sanjulián and Marta Segarra (University of A Coruña / Université Paris 8 Vincennes–Saint-Denis). She also completed several postgraduate degrees, including the Master’s in Literature, Culture, and Diversity (2014), the Master’s in Literary Theory and Lusophone Literatures (2015), and the Master’s in Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, and Language Teaching (2021).

She has worked as a lecturer in Galician language, literature, and culture and as a temporary professor at the Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle Paris 3 (2015–2018); as a Spanish language lecturer at the Institut Universitaire de Technologie d’Amiens–Université de Picardie Jules Verne (Amiens, France / 2017–2018); as a researcher at the Ramón Piñeiro Center for Research in the Humanities (2018–2020); and as a Margarita Salas postdoctoral researcher (2022–2024). She is currently an Interim Substitute Professor in the Department of Letters at the Faculty of Philology, University of A Coruña.

Her research focuses on gender, sexuality, and literary studies—fields in which she has published articles in journals such as Abriu, 452ºF, and Itinerarios, and has coordinated and contributed to various collective volumes. Among her most notable works is the special issue she co-edited with Danny Barreto (Colgate University) for Galicia 21: Journal of Contemporary Galician Studies, titled Dende a outra beirarrúa: culturas e estudos cuir en Galicia, one of the first academic contributions to Galician queer studies. She also co-edited, with Andrea Nunes, the essay collection O cento voando. Amores, alianzas e non-monogamias (Xerais, 2023), for which they received the Follas Novas Award (2024).

She has given lectures and presentations at numerous academic and public events, and has participated in the organization of scholarly gatherings such as Saberes en alianza: desafíos nos estudos de xénero e das sexualidades (2025) and Destruír raias, construír pontes: estudos queer na Galiza e Portugal (2025)—a pioneering event aimed at connecting researchers working in the field of queer studies on both sides of the border.
