Nós Diario reports on the publication of «Manuel María e Portugal: cartas de alén Miño (1960–2004)»

Xosé Ramón Freixeiro Mato and Manuel Ferreiro, members of ILLA, are responsible for the study and edition of the 660 letters that make up Manuel María’s correspondence with numerous figures from Portuguese culture (writers, journalists, scholars, translators, publishers, etc.).

The article published by Nós highlights the publication of this important collection of correspondence, which reveals the intensity of the literary and personal relationships that the poet Manuel María maintained over several decades with Portuguese writers, journalists, scholars and publishers, including José Saramago, Miguel Torga, José Viale Moutinho, Francisco José Velozo and Manuel Rodrigues Lapa, to mention only a few particularly significant names among more than seventy Portuguese correspondents. At the same time, the effective literary and cultural network uncovered by this correspondence also points to the need for its revitalisation today in order to promote Galician literature and its authors throughout the Lusophone world.
