March 2026

The work, published by the Casa-Museo Manuel María, is authored by Xosé Ramón Freixeiro and Manuel Ferreiro (ILLA, UDC).

The volume Manuel María e Portugal: cartas de alén Miño (1960–2004) has just come off the press, published by the Casa-Museo Manuel María, with study, edition, and notes by the professors of the ILLA Group at the University of A Coruña, Xosé Ramón Freixeiro Mato and Manuel Ferreiro.

The work, comprising 732 pages, includes an extensive introduction on Manuel María’s relationship with Portugal, followed by the transcription of 662 letters: 615 written by Portuguese intellectuals—most of them writers from the north of the country—and 47 by the poet from Outeiro de Rei. The letters are arranged chronologically and are extensively annotated. Among their authors are such notable figures as Manuel Rodrigues Lapa, José Saramago, Miguel Torga, Wanda Ramos, Francisco José Velozo, Viale Moutinho, and Ana Hatherly.

The book concludes with a list of the 74 Lusitanian correspondents of the poet from A Terra Chá, including a biobibliographical profile of each of them, as well as a chronological index of the edited letters and the corresponding bibliography.
