Professor and ILLA member Alva Martínez Teixeiro is teaching an in-person intensive course on Brazilian and Portuguese poetry by female authors in the “Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras” at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS).
From October 18 to 25, Alva Martínez Teixeiro, Distinguished Senior Professor and member of ILLA, will teach, in Porto Alegre, the postgraduate course “Brazilian and Portuguese Poetry by Female Authors, from the Second Half of the 20th Century to the Present Day.” The different sessions will focus on the rereading of the Greek tradition and the renewal of Galician-Portuguese and Camonian love lyricism in the poetic works of, among other authors, Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, Dora Ferreira da Silva, Hilda Hilst, Maria Teresa Horta, Ana Hatherly, and Elisa Andrade Buzzo Krone.
The invitation was extended to her in her capacity as *“Foreign Associate Professor” (2022–2027) of the “Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras (PPGL)” at the “Escola de Humanidades” of the “Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS).” This Master’s and Doctoral program at PUCRS was chosen as the “Best Postgraduate Program in Brazil – Literature (International Excellence)” in the latest “Four-Year Evaluation” by the “Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior – Ministry of Education of Brazil (CAPES),” and is a beneficiary of the prestigious “Programa de Excelência Acadêmica (PROEX),” which funds expenses related to the stay for teaching this accredited course and for conducting various research activities.
