ILLA organizes a conference dedicated to the thinker and poet of the Irmandades da Fala.
Next Tuesday, February 25, António Gil Hernández will give the lecture “Johán V. Viqueira / João V. Biqueira, poeta e pensador da Galiza federada”. The lecture will provide an introduction to the life and work of one of the leading intellectuals of the Irmandades da Fala and the emerging political and cultural nationalism of the early 20th century, until his untimely death in 1924.
António Gil Hernández has an extensive research background in Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, and Literature within the Galician context. His most recent work is Johán Vicente Viqueira / João Vicente Biqueira (1924-2024). Poemas e ensaios (Através Editora, 2024).
The event will take place in the Graduate Hall of the Faculty of Philology at 1:00 p.m.
