ILLA organises a round table on Alén, the second play written by Xaime Quintanilla and whose publication turns 100 this year. The event will feature the participation of Laura Tato, Carlos Biscainho and Manuel F. Vieites.

Xaime Quintanilla was a man committed to Galician politics and culture. Mayor of Ferrol during the Second Republic and killed after the fascist coup d'etat, he was also a member of the Irmandades da Fala, journalist, editor and showed great interest in theater. He collaborated with the Toxos e Frores choir as an actor and director of several shows and wrote the plays Donosiña and Alén.

This second play, never performed, is a dramatic comedy that takes place in New York City and meant a paradigm shift in the dramatic writing of the time. It recreates the adventures of a spiritualistic society that awaits the return of its master from beyond, but also tells the story of an impossible love.
