ILLA signs the DORA declaration
15th April 2021

The group has decided to sign the Declaration on Research Assessment, which acknowledges the need of promoting best practice in research evaluation.

On 16 December 2012, a group of editors and publishers of scholarly journals met  during the Annual Meeting of The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) in San Francisco. The group developed a set of recommendations, referred to as the San Francisco Declaration on Research Assessment, to address the need to improve the ways in which the output of scientific research is evaluated by funding agencies, academic institutions, and other parties. ILLA joins now the vindication of these reccomendations, addressed to all the parts implied in the process of assessment and publication of research results; among these reccomendations stands out that of not using journal based scales, such as the Impact Factor, as an indirect measure of the quality of papers, the contributions of certain researchers, or as a crucial indicator in decisions regarding contracting, promotion or funding.
